I’m a keynote speaker, and my footprint is mostly miles. I’d rather be honest about that. I travel deliberately, choose the lighter option whenever it serves you as well, and spend my real energy on work worth keeping.
Let me be honest before I try to be impressive: I’m an international keynote speaker, and I fly. I won’t call my business carbon neutral, because the honest math doesn’t allow it. I’d rather tell you what’s actually true.
My profession travels, and I won’t pretend it is a climate solution. What I can offer is the work itself: helping leaders and the people inside their organizations stay irreplaceable while everything automatable gets automated, so the human parts are worth keeping, and worth keeping well.
Sustainability, for me, comes down to the same question as the rest of my work: what is genuinely worth preserving, and what am I willing to do to preserve it?
Ideas for making your event a little lighter? I would love to hear them.
