Sarah, Emily and the Condo Listing
Two real estate professionals, Sarah and Emily, are competing to become the listing agent for a high-end condo owned by a couple, Mark and Lisa. It is a major opportunity for both careers, and on paper the two are identical: the same qualifications, the same track record, the same invitation. Each waits in the sleek lobby of the upscale building, each is greeted by Lisa with a firm handshake, and each walks past the concierge desk and the residents’ lounge to the same living room. Yet Sarah’s meeting ends after twenty minutes with a polite promise to be in touch, while Emily’s runs an hour and closes with an invitation to continue next week. That evening, Lisa and Mark discuss the two candidates and reach a clear verdict on each. If their credentials were equal, what did the couple see that decided the listing before either agent said a word?
